Environmental Control Systems
and Page Turner
Infra-Link®"First Aide Kit"
Provides an immediate, independent communication link
after a serious injury.
Experience has shown that these products, a universal
infra-red transmitter, a remote-controlled speaker-
telephone, and and AC wall outlet, solve a number of
serious problems. This is especially true for newly injured
people for whom communication with relatives and the
'outside world' may be of decisive importance.
The "First Aide Kit" is an important part of the GEWA
"Smart House" concept and provides a flexible solution
for control of telephone, TV, radio, VCR, lamps, alarms,
and electric-bed function. The transmitter and control
switches can be individually adapted to the user's need.
The transmitter and sip-or-puff switch are attached to an
I-V stand and easily can be moved aside or from room
to room; perfect for hospital and rehabilitation facility environments. The system does NOT require a
permanent installation.
The standard components that make up the "First Aide Kit" are readily available and can be used at home later on.
At home, it's easy to add other components for added independence; the user can control door openers and locks, lights, call-alarms, window openers and powered draperies, elevators, etc.

The GEWA PROG
With one small hand-held transmitter the user can operate and control virtually everything electrical in his or her environment. Whether confined to a bed or wheelchair, or just simply having difficulty getting around, the GEWA PROG infrared transmitter can make your life easier.
Advanced Technology
The INFRA-LINK system incorporates the latest developments in advanced technology specifically for those with disabilities.
The GEWA PROG transmitter and receivers use microprocessors to allow greater scope for a full range of applications. The individual's needs are more easily catered to, and the concept of the GEWA "Smart House" can become a reality with INFRA-LINK.
Complete remote control no wires
The fundamental objective of INFRA-LINK is to allow people with special needs from being connected by wires or needing direct contact. Mobility is enhanced and independence is increased.
Operation of all electrical functions is consolidated to a standardized, yet flexible, programmable format. It gives the disabled user full and comprehensive environmental control of doors, windows, curtains, locks, elevators, telephones, alarms, beds, electrical power outlets, lights, TV, video players, and hi-fi components as well as page turners and computer access devices. Everything is controlled by the GEWA PROG infrared transmitter by direct selection or scanning techniques.
Independence
INFRA-LINK enables the physically challenged individual to more easily control telephones to both make and receive calls. Entering or leaving home, changing TV channels, switching lights on and off and, especially security locking of entry doors are simply achieved. INFRA-LINK promotes independence, peace of mind and self-esteem. Whether used in an apartment, a house, hospital or nursing home, INFRA-LINK has the solution for the "Smart House."

Access GEWA PROG
Access GEWA PROG is an enalrged-key version of the famouse GEWA PROG. All of the functionality is there, including scanning. For those who need the enlarged keys (3/4" [19 mm]diameter), this may be a viable option.
Utility software is provided that allows programming of the transmitter and creation of backup files (PC only). Overlays can be generated on the computer a number of PCS* symbols are included in the program.
Jupiter Speaker-Telephone
Achieve independence with hands-free telephone access.
The GEWA Jupiter Speaker-Telephone is a high quality consumer telephone modified for alternative access. The telephone retains all of its intended functions and can be used as a "normal" telephone at all times.
The infrared (I-R) receiver is built-in only the receiver's "eye" will let you know it's there. The same Infra-Link transmitter that operates the telephone can control other functions like door openers and locks, intercoms, lights, radios, televisions, tape players, elevators, etc.
For those who have the capability, all the features of the telephone, including the 8 direct-dial and 40 coded numbers, are accessible directly or with infrared remote control. A complete line of GEWA Infra-Link transmitters are available including scanning units for single-switch access to all of the telephone's functions.
One-channel transmitters with single switch input can be used to answer the phone or to dial a number in memory. For many, one memory is set to dial the operator who can then make any connection desired.

Infra-Link Elevator Control
Infra-Link's new wireless remote control system uses infrared signals to enable physically disabled individuals to access the elevator, open the door, select the floor level and use the emergency call button.
An Infra-Link infrared (IR) receiver can be installed on each floor to which the elevator is to be called. The IR receiver is placed above the elevator door. When the receiver is activated, the elevator is called and the automatic sliding doors are opened. If the elevator is already on the floor level, the doors are opened.
Voltage is supplied to the IR receivers by a protective transformer (12V-24V DC or 24V AC), which is common for all floor levels and preferably placed in the elevator machine room.
In the Infra-Link system, a special IR receiver is used for connection to the control system of the elevator cage. The IR receiver is connected to a separate detector placed inside the elevator cage, preferably on the ceiling. The receiver unit is placed on the elevator cage roof for connection to the elevator control system. The receiver has relay switches with normally-open and normally-closed functions. The operating voltage of the receiver is 110V AC and preferably is derived from the elevator cage.
For control of the elevator, the normally-open relay functions are connected in parallel to the regular normally-open control switches of the elevator. The normally-closed switch is connected in series with the stop loop of the elevator. This means that via the Infra-Link system the elevator can be directed to optional floor levels. A channel is used for a distress signal. Elevators with a separate control function for opening of a side hung door require a designated channel for this function.
GEWA ACCESS Computer Keyboards
Remote Computer Access!
ACCESS Medi and ACCESS Maxi are both enlarged-key keyboards that control computers with the same remote infrared (IR) that has made GEWA so world renowned.
The wireless systems are powerful infrared transmitters that communicate with computers through the ACCESS keyboard/Mouse Interface that is supplied with each keyboard.
The keyboards have two levels, one for the keyboard and one for environmental control. In addition to complete computer control, the keyboards can control everything in the GEWA "Smart House" product realm. Macros can be recorded with things like names, addresses, etc., and transmitted with a single keystroke. Multi-function environmental control commands can be transmitted in the same manner.

The keyboards can be adapted to individual needs by changing settings for keyboard Delay and Repeat rate.
The smaller unit, ACCESS Medi, is direct selection and scanning (12 different scanning methods), while the larger ACCESS Maxi is direct selection only. Both units have integral kayguards. The ACCESS Medi's keys are 1/2" (12.7 mm) in diameter and the ACCESS Maxi's keys are 3/4" (19 mm) in diameter.

GEWA Page Turner BLV-6
Considered by most people who know, the GEWA Page Turner BLV-6 is the best in the world. Because it doesn't attempt to do the impossible, this outstanding Swedish-designed page turner "really does work!"
With the BLV-6, the user is in total step-by-step control of the turning process. Errors in turning, sticking pages, crumpled or mis-angled pagesall can be manipulated successfully by the user with the truly unique characteristics of the Page Turner.
Whether you're sitting up or lying down, pages can be turned forward and backward, one at a time or continuously (scanning a chapter or directory, for instance). The only assistance required is to insert the document to be read, position the operating control for the user, and occasionally clean the turning mechanism.
Used for social, business, and educational reading, the unit works with books, magazines, catalogs, brochures, incoming mail, etc. It can be operated with a variety of multiple-switch assemblies or optionally with a visual scanner and any single switch. And, it can be run by most environmental control units.
